The Municipality of Russell Binscarth invites applications for the position of Manager of Municipal Facilities. The successful applicant will be familiar with municipal facilities operations, including rinks, halls, gym spaces and other municipal buildings. The successful applicant must be able to work varying shifts and weekends, be able to obtain quotes for equipment, various contract work, and supervise work on various facilities. Although the individual will be an employee of the Municipality, the work and reporting structure will involve other stakeholders including boards and community committees.

Seasonal Gardener
Contract Seasonal Gardener Position
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following responsibilities are completed with the support of the Municipal Public Works Crew and Summer Students.
- Meet with community volunteers to plan for the upcoming season.
- Choose flower colors and contact Prairie Gardener and Hardy Zone with information & order.
- Insure Main Street Hanging Baskets and Cenotaph baskets are planted and maintained.
- Ensure that soil mix is prepared at Russell & Binscarth (Sand, Peat Moss, Compost, Black Dirt).
- Direct the placement of planters along Main Street Russell as soon as possible in the spring. Direct placement of hanging planters along Russel Street Binscarth
- Ensure that the Soil in Main Street and Russell Street (Binscarth) planters dug up and ready for planting as early as possible and likely again the morning of planting day (summer students will assist).
- Planting – coordinate any required volunteers to assist.
- Gardens along Main Street, Millennium Park and Odikia Park – Ensure Garden beds are cleaned and weeded (with support of the summer students).
- Work with volunteers to maintain the flowers and gardens in Binscarth as needed (memory trees, Pocket Park & Memory Garden and entrance flower beds on east and west side of Binscarth)
- Identify Trees & Shrubs that require pruning, replacement, etc. And make plans to complete the required tasks where necessary hiring arborists.
- Oversee fall work – Clean up, winter prep including cutting down perennials, planters, moved off Main Street and stored by Municipal Crew.
- Wrap up meeting in the Fall to evaluate and plan for the next year.
- Oversee the watering and attendance of the summer student(s) assigned to care for the plants.
- Responsible with planting, thinning, fertilizing, hedging, pruning and deadheading as well as general garden and grounds duties which may include the operation of grounds equipment to maintain municipal property
- Maintain public interactions
- Some weekend work may be required

Administrative Assistant Term - 18 Month

Summary:
The Administrative Assistant will provide administrative support to the Mayor and Council as well as the CAO and Asst CAO, and to the general public.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Working with the CAO ensure compilation of the Council meeting agenda and information package. Complete the minutes of all Council meetings and special meetings and ensure they are posted to the Municipality of Russell Binscarth website as per policy.
- Provide reception for individuals and incoming calls. Ensure public inquiries are entered into Public Works System.
- Deal with incoming correspondence and mail including dissemination to the appropriate individual within the Municipality of Russell Binscarth organization.
- Provide admin support for all outgoing correspondence, bylaws, agreements, policies and letters.
- Ensure proper filing of all correspondence for later retrieval and usage Update and review of the Municipal Website and social media pages. Along with advertising in the new papers, and any additional municipal ads as required.
- Complete a weekly cash-out and create the deposit to be taken to the current banking facility of the municipality.
- Provide support for the Russell & District Vet Board and any other assigned committees.
- Assist with inquiries from the Russell, Harrowby & Binscarth Cemetery, and ensure all records are kept and filed.
